In the midst of tragedy God came down to Job.  The creator of the Universe came down to care for a man who was deeply suffering.  All kinds of bad things were happening to Job: physical, material, psychological and spiritual.  He was a "blameless" man who was deprived of wealth, posterity and health.  So when Job cried out from the depth of his being, the Lord came down and offered him His communion. God revealed himself personally to Job.  So at the end of the story, Job knows the purposefulness of God. He is at work in the universe.  The Lord's appearance makes him reply, "I know that thou canst do all things, and that no purpose of thine can be thwarted."

When bad things happen in our life, it is difficult to trust in the Lord.  But know that God is profoundly involved in your destiny.  When we are overwhelmed with worry and trouble may we experience the divine presence and the intimacy of our Creator and that "the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us" (Rom. 8:18).
